Toddler Program at Beibei Amigos (Ages 1–2)
At Beibei Amigos Language Preschool, our toddler program is thoughtfully designed to support children during one of the most important stages of brain development. The toddler years are when children rapidly develop language, movement, independence, and social–emotional skills.
Our program blends developmentally appropriate traditional play-based learning for younger toddlers with a Montessori approach for older toddlers, while maintaining full Spanish and Mandarin language immersion.
Traditional Play-Based Learning
Our one-year-old toddler classrooms follow a traditional, play-based approach that focuses on building foundational skills in a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment. At this age, children are learning how to move through the world, communicate their needs, and interact with others.
Social–Emotional Development
- Developing trust and secure relationships with teachers
- Learning to engage alongside peers (parallel play)
- Beginning to express emotions through sounds, gestures, and early words
- Learning routines, transitions, and a sense of predictability
Language Development
- Exposure to rich vocabulary through songs, stories, and daily conversations
- Learning to understand simple words and directions
- Beginning verbal expression, labeling objects, and imitating sounds
- Full immersion exposure to Spanish and Mandarin in a natural, nurturing way
Fine & Gross Motor Skills
- Strengthening hand and finger muscles through grasping, stacking, and sensory play
- Walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and movement exploration
- Developing coordination through music and movement activities
🧩 Play-Based Learning
- Sensory exploration: Water, textures, music, art
- Cause-and-effect toys: Problem-solving materials
- Teacher-guided play: Supports curiosity and confidence
The goal for one-year-olds is security, exploration, and communication, allowing children to build confidence as learners while feeling safe and supported.
Traditional & Montessori Transition
At age two, children show a strong desire for independence, order, and purposeful activity. At Beibei Amigos, two-year-olds may be enrolled in either a traditional toddler classroom or a Montessori toddler classroom, depending on readiness and family preference.
Montessori Skills for Two-Year-Olds
Rolling mats, pouring, spooning, cleaning tables, washing hands, and self-dressing.
Using tongs, tweezers, peg boards, and threading to strengthen hands for writing.
Choosing work independently, completing tasks, and caring for the environment.
Two-Year-Old Montessori Program
Our Montessori toddler classrooms are carefully prepared environments that allow two-year-olds to work independently, make choices, and build real-world skills. Montessori education at this age focuses on hands-on learning, concentration, and independence, while still honoring the child’s need for movement and repetition.
Language Development
- Rich vocabulary through Montessori lessons and daily immersion
- Naming objects, actions, and materials
- Songs, stories, and conversations in Spanish and Mandarin
Grace and Courtesy
- Learning how to wait, take turns, and respect others
- Practicing polite social interactions
- Developing empathy and awareness of peers
Teachers in the Montessori toddler classroom observe each child closely and give individualized lessons, allowing children to progress at their own pace while building confidence and independence.
Language Immersion Program at Beibei Amigos
At Beibei Amigos Language Preschool, language immersion is at the heart of everything we do. Our program is designed to help children naturally acquire Spanish, Mandarin, and English during the most critical years of brain development, when young minds are especially receptive to language.
We believe children learn languages best the same way they learn their first language—through daily interaction, meaningful relationships, and real-life experiences, not memorization or translation.
How Language Immersion Works
In our immersion classrooms, teachers speak to children exclusively in the target language throughout the day. Language is integrated into every part of the child’s routine, including:
- Morning greetings
- Circle time & songs
- Play-based learning
- Mealtime conversations
- Outdoor play
Spanish and Mandarin Immersion
Our classrooms are led by native or fluent Spanish- and Mandarin-speaking teachers who create an authentic language environment. Because immersion happens consistently and contextually, children begin to:
- Understand words and phrases before speaking
- Associate language with actions, objects, and emotions
- Respond naturally without translating
- Develop strong listening and comprehension skills
🎨 Learning Through Play
Language learning at Beibei Amigos is always developmentally appropriate. Teachers model language naturally while guiding children through activities.
"Children are never forced to speak a language. Instead, they are encouraged to listen, observe, and gradually respond as their confidence grows."
Our Philosophy for Toddlers
Whether in a traditional or Montessori classroom, our toddler program honors each child’s developmental stage. We believe toddlers learn best through movement, repetition, play, and meaningful relationships. With full Spanish and Mandarin immersion, children naturally absorb language while engaging in purposeful, joyful learning.
Our Goal is to Help Every Toddler Feel:
Safe & Loved
Confident
